Photo 1: The composition of this photo consists of a background, middle ground and a foreground. The background can be seen through the sky and the Taunton River, while the middle ground is the sand and the foreground is the grasses. This photo also varies in texture with the curls on the dogs fur, but also the smoothness in the lines of the grass. As far technical aspects, I used a fast shutter speed to get the detail of the chain and the curls along with the plants going in the dogs face. I have a shallow depth of field to almost blur out the background to get every detail in the foreground focused as I could. This photo has the mystery of what the dog is thinking. If you look closely, then you can see that the dog is staring off into the distance and is looking away from the camera.
Photo 2: This photo has a compositional stance of the rule of thirds seen throughout the back, middle and foreground. There is also positive and negative space seen with the darkness in his clothes but the lightness in the clouds and the sky. There is contrast between the landscape line of trees and buildings through the middle of the photo that cuts the softness of the soft water texture and the fluffy clouds. There is a sense of loving in this photo by the way the boy is looking at his dog, but the dog is mysteriously looking away at something outside of the photo.
Photo 3: This photo consists of more negative space than positive, shown in the dark rocks that are blocking the rest of the view of the water. The foreground which is slightly less in focus than the middle ground, has a sense of calming and stillness. The background however which is also blurred shows the waves that are forming and will eventually crash down into the stillness of the photo. This photo has an interesting point of view because it is extremely low to the ground with the camera touching the rocks. This was able to get that idea that the rocks and waves are larger than they actually are.
Photo 4: The fog in this photo creates a sense of mystery where the tops of the chimneys are getting less visible, but the tower in the back is almost not visible at all. The contrast between the darkness of the trees and plants also contrast the white and grays of background. The leading lines in this photo lead you from the bottom of the chimneys up the photo to the sky where the stays. There are also the horizontal lines towards the bottom of the photo that lead your eye sideways from one side of the photo to the other.
Photo 5: The composition of this photo is broken up through the photo between the water, the foam and also the sand. The foam created an undefined line separating the water and the sand. There is also a contrast seen in the light whites of the bubbles and the dark sand that contains the dark plants. The shells and rocks in the sand contrast the dark sand as well. This photo has a faster shutter speed to capture the waves with minimal blur to get the full details in the waves and also the ripples in the water. The lighting has increased the detail seen through the clear definition of the shells which are visible due to the sun. This photo is also interesting because of the shells in the picture. If you look closely, you can see the shell just beneath the biggest section of the foam, it looks like a tiny dinosaur skull.
Photo 6: The bunny is well lit by the golden hour sun, and has a higher contrast from the browns in it's fur and the light greens and purples seen in the grass and flowers. This photo has a larger depth of field, however still has blur in the foreground and the background, still leaving the middle in focus. I adjusted the levels and vibrance in the photo to make sure the levels are correct and to bring out the greens in the grass and the purple in the flowers. This photo has a sense of calmness and brings serenity with the stillness of the bunny and the soothing colors.
Photo 7: The bunny in this photo has left its state of serenity and has taken on full motion. I used a faster shutter speed to get the motion of the bunny in focus, but also to blur the background. This photo has a high contrast with the fur of the bunny and the lighter ground textures from the grass and the dirt. The lighting of the sun's golden hour has also created a halo effect around the bunny. This photo has a sense of urgency and it is seen through the long strides of the leaps that the bunny is moving.
Photo 8: This photo contains leading lines, seen through the staircase railings and also the slight curved lines seen in the lines separating the water and the land in the background. There is also a sense of texture and the small leaves and flowers growing from the stems of the plants. I enhanced the red in the railings and the blue in the water through photoshop, raising the vibrance and saturation, making the colors pop more. I had also cropped the photo slightly to get rid of any distraction in the side point of view. To me this photo has the meaning of almost a stairway to serenity with calming waves and stillness of the bushes. It also has a slight sense of mystery from the three letters that are written on the railing, considering it could potentially mean anything.
Photo 9: This photo has a shallow depth of field to focus on the subject in the middle. It was also enhanced slightly to bring out the darkness in his hair and also to distinguish the grey in his shirt and the similar color of the water in the background. It also had a fast shutter speed to completely capture all of the facial features with minimal blur. His face captures happiness and it radiates through his smile.
Photo 10: The rocks in this picture were captured in a shallow depth of field to blur all of the other rocks in the background, to focus on the main stack. Each one of the rocks, blurred or not, contain abundant amounts of texture. I used a fast shutter speed to be able to capture the lines and patterns within the rocks. This photo also had great exposure, with nothing over exposed or under exposed. I also enhanced the colors through raising the saturation and also the vibrance of the picture.
