Portraits
Identity
For my self portraits, I did not take them myself. I had gone to a small side street in Somerset where there was a bridge and a wall with graffiti, and my best friend took my picture. He stood from the opposite side, so the whole wall was visible along with a pipe running underneath the bridge. These portraits were taken around 5:30 pm when the sun was beginning to set. The pictures in front of the wall contained leading lines through the pipes and the edge of ledge before the water. These pictures also had the pattern from the graffiti as well. While some of these pictures I was centered, The first and third picture follow the rule of thirds with me being slightly uncentered. A fast shutter speed was used to take these photos to eliminate the possible blur that could occur. In these photographs, I wanted to portray the constant jumble of different things and different peoples words always streaming through my mind, which I feel was captured through the graffiti wall. The wall represents different people's thoughts, ideas and creative views spilled onto one canvas. I feel as though these portraits were successful because they captured the vision that I had been thinking of and because they were taken at just the right time of day.
